Xàbia

Sun and Co.

The first coliving on this coast. It ran ten years and then stopped.

This space has closed. It stopped taking residents on 21 June 2025, after roughly ten years. No reason was given. The operators said themselves that whether it is permanent was not settled. The website is still live and still takes bookings — do not treat anything on it as an offer.

About the house

A 19th-century townhouse in the old town of Xàbia. It ran as a coliving from October 2015 until 21 June 2025, the first on the Mediterranean coast and one of the first anywhere. The record stays up because a lot of what exists on this coast came out of it, and because the website is also still up and still taking bookings.

What it was

Sun and Co. opened in October 2015 in a 19th-century house in the old town of Xàbia. It was the first coliving on the Mediterranean coast1. Twenty-five people in high season, fifteen to twenty out of it2.

A courtyard, a roof terrace, a cave that somebody had turned into a meeting room, a separate coworking space with two call booths four minutes’ walk away,…

It closed every July and August. Not much shade in the building, and July in this part of Valencia is not a working month.

The programming is what it was known for. At least three professional events a week — skill-shares, roundtables — plus the hikes, the cooking, the tapas nights.

Most colivings claim community and give you a WhatsApp group. This one ran a timetable.

How it ended

It stopped taking residents on 21 June 2025. There was a farewell party the night before.

No public reason. The operators were also careful not to shut the door completely: “Whether this is a permanent farewell or just the end of a chapter remains uncertain”3. The listing directories put it more bluntly, as “ceased coliving June ’25”1.

Ten years, roughly. Nothing on this coast has run longer, it was also the first one here.

Why the page is still here

Two reasons.

The first one is that a lot of what exists on this coast came out of it. People stayed at Sun and Co. and then opened houses of their own, the region does not make sense without it.

The second is a warning. As of September 2026 sun-and-co.com is still up, still describes the house in the present tense, and still offers to take a booking. Fifteen months after the house shut.

This page carries no link to it and no figures from it. A dormant site with a working booking flow is how people lose deposits. If you find it, treat it as an archive and not as an offer.

TK: whether anybody has taken on the building, and whether the coworking space in the old town still trades on its own. Neither is answerable from a desk.

The social side

Heavily programmed, by the standards of anything else on this coast. At least three professional events a week, skill-shares, roundtables, on top of the hiking, the cooking, the tapas nights,… Twenty-five people in a townhouse with one shared kitchen is not a building you pass through anonymously. That was the point. It is also why it did not suit everyone.
